The Nubian Voices
Nadia Stokes
I am a child of God. Creating because I was created. Living because I've been given life. Loving because I'm loved. Still undergoing renovations. I'm looking forward; continued growth on the many levels. Sharing the testimonies, the challenges, the battles, the successes, the healing. All while nervous but with hopeful expectation. Contemplation is close to me; dreams even closer. Humbled by reality in reach. Self seen in each; joining hands of creation. Forward in spite of much because of The One who is bigger than it all. I've been blessed to experience this place and these kindred beings, great and small. I'm grateful and will continue as expected. The One who knows the end and beginning loves me and you Equally. We're never neglected. We all are an expression of God's love meant to share it through our gifts. This is one of mine.
Henry Westray Jr.
Henry is often referred to as the Renaissance man par excellence, as he has had successful careers in several professional fields in the U.S.A. and abroad. Born in Baltimore, he returned to his native town after living in Africa. While he likes to write poetry and short stories, his background includes work as a program director, assistant professor, author, Television host, family therapist and workshop presenter. Henry continues to write poems and short stories and feels blessed by the opportunities he is given. He is truly touched by the many awards he has received for his professional and pro bono work. He is currently working on a collection of poems that he hopes to release next year. He thanks those whose wings he borrowed to fly beyond his dreams. Connect with Henry at blkspirit1@comcast.net.
Joslyn Caldwell
I was born and raised in California where I grew up in a single parent home. I found my love for writing at the age of 12. My first poem was called "A Woman Weeps", it was a piece that spoke on how women suffer in silence. I fell in love with writing after that and went on to recite poems in church. Through high school and college I always made sure to take a Creative Writing class at some point. My work displays my thoughts, feelings and humor while often showcasing my battle with dyslexia. Now I am a mother and a woman of a certain age, I have grown and evolved over the years but writing is still a passion that I adore.
